Man, 34, arraigned for allegedly stealing N256, 000 from policewoman
34-year-old recharge card vendor, Michael Komolafe, who allegedly stole N256, 000 from a police inspector, was on Tuesday brought before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The accused, whose residential address was not given, is facing a charge of stealing.
The accused had committed the offence sometime in December 2014 at Block 12, Flat 2, B3, Beach Police Barracks, Victoria Island, Lagos, Police Prosecutor Cyriacus Osuji, told the court.
Osuji said the accused stole N256, 000, belonging to a woman police inspector, Catherine Edebor.
The offence contravened Section 287 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the section prescribes three years imprisonment for offenders.
Komolafe, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs A. T.Omoyele, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She said the sureties must be gainfully employed with an evidence of tax payment.
The case was adjourned until Nov. 29 for mention.
